Have you thought about volunteering at Cooneana Heritage Centre?
This is the premier history museum for the City of Ipswich. Run by Ipswich Historical Society Incorporated, the Centre is set in five acres of beautiful grounds and has been named with respect for Cooneana Homestead, built in 1868 - still in its original position.
Volunteers and Members undertake many activities to keep the museum and grounds in best condition. There are so many tasks that we could do with some extra hands, minds and skills to assist us.
What do we need new volunteers to think about helping with?
Creating displays from our collection.
Writing information about the displays, revise documentation and complete materials required in running the Society.
Managing our website and Facebook page.
Designing flyers, posters and advertisements to publicise our events and activities.
Research - responding to enquiries and emails.
Engaging with students at a "station" when schools visit.
Supporting event coordinators.
Recording donations (accessioning)
Sorting collection items.
Cleaning and restoring artefacts.
Our members and volunteers share a community spirit as we acquire, develop and share skills and knowledge. We would love you to join us! You will meet new people, learn some new skills, possibly gain valuable work experience. This is a way to become actively involved in your community!
