Bush Poets Breakfast 21 March 2026
The Ipswich Historical Society’s Bush Poets Breakfast for 2026 promises to be a lively and heartfelt gathering, celebrating the rich tradition of bush poetry in the Australian landscape. This annual event invites locals and visitors alike to experience the unique storytelling culture that has shaped the region’s heritage.
You can look forward to a morning filled with classic and contemporary Australian poetry performed by talented bush poets from across the region. Guests can choose to begin with a country-style breakfast featuring bacon, egg, toast, tea, coffee and juice from 9am, enjoyed in a relaxed, communal atmosphere. Breakfast sets the tone for a day of camaraderie and creative expression.
From 10am seasoned poets and first-time performers share their works, reciting verses that capture the wit, humour, and pathos of life in the Aussie bush. Attendees are encouraged to participate, whether by reading a favourite poem or simply enjoying the performances.
This event fosters community spirit and encourages appreciation for the oral traditions that have long been part of rural Australian life.
