Our Back in Time Family Fun Days are huge events that we hold twice or three times a year. We hold them on a Sunday to enable families to attend together where possible.
Heritage Family Fun Day Sunday 5 October
Join us for our next Heritage Family Fun Day on Sunday 5 October 2025.
Fun for the whole family to enjoy activities together. Old-fashioned games to play. Veteran trucks and cars on show. Horse-drawn vehicles and our fabulous Banjo on display.
See the Cooneana blacksmiths at work. Walk through the museum. Check out Cooneana Homestead to find out about life in Ipswich from the 19th century.
Children can help Possum "Nea" find some items on display. A prize when they have completed their free list.
See a dinosaur footprint too. Music will be by Ally and Sarah. Listen while you rest or eat.
Sausage sizzle and Hobbit Hole Coffee will be available to purchase food and hot or cold drinks.
Ride the train around the site and the Heritage Bus will take you on a short ride too! All included in your ticket.
Visit Jim Donald House where you will find the Cooneana Coal Mine and explore the huge mining machines outside.
Check out the Spinners, Weavers, Fibre Artisans of Ipswich in Brighton House and the Ipswich Genealogical Society in Brigg House while you are here. Queensland Metal Artisans Collective will also be open. Maybe you will find some hand-made items to buy (Christmas presents?).
