Your views on Cooneana Heritage Centre
needed to inform our master plan
Ipswich City Council is asking for community feedback to inform a new Master Plan for the development of Cooneana Heritage Centre.
If you have visited Cooneana, we ask that you take a few minutes to complete the survey that Council Officers have created.
If you have contacts with other groups, please ask those people to complete the survey as well. The more responses gathered, the more likely the Master Plan will meet the needs of our community and our visitors.
The public survey can be accessed via the following link:

Please note: you will have to sign up to Shape your Ipswich if you haven’t done so before. By signing up you will be informed about key dates and you can have your say on any other Council projects for consultation.
The public survey on Shape your Ipswich is now open until 11:45 pm on the 16 February 2020. We encourage teachers, students and parents who have visited with school groups to respond.
Thank you for your support with this survey.

Saint Barbara's Day service 4 December
On 4 December every year the Society organises a memorial service for all those who have died in coal mines in Ipswich and Rosewood over the 180 years that mining has been an Ipswich industry.
The service is held at the Ipswich and Rosewood Coal Miners Memorial in Limestone Park. These photos are of the memorial and the service in 2019.

Mines Rescue Brigade Booval inaugural reunion
The Inaugural Reunion of members of the Booval Mines Rescue Brigade was held in their original building - now part of Llewellyn Motors - on Friday 29 November. Organised by our President, Hugh Taylor, this reunion was to mark the 110th anniversary of the establishment of the Mines Safety Brigade and to commemorate the end of coal mining in Ipswich. The last mine will cease operations this December.
Former members of the Booval Brigade were presented with specially designed mementos by the current Mines Rescue Brigade leader, Ray Smith.
